In 1609, I went with the Huron and Algonquin to face the Iroquois. The Iroquois relied on bows, but I used my gun. I shot three chiefs, and the Iroquois became scared and ran into the forest. I thought the lake that we had crossed to get to the Iroquois was so beautiful, that I named it after myself. It is still named Lake Champlain today.
I was in another battle against the Iroquois, in 1610. During the attack, I had an arrow slit the end of my ear and go into my neck. However, I managed to pull the arrow out and continue my duty.
By forcing the Iroquois away from the Saint Lawrence, we sent them to directly trade with our English and Dutch rivals. The English sympathized with the Iroquois. This then led to a war with us (the French) and the Algonquin against the English and the Iroquois.
