In 1628, France and England were at war and the British, led by Sir David Kirke, captured the French ships that brought food and goods to New France. I was forced to surrender on July 19, 1629. Quebec was under control of Britain and I was taken as a prisoner to England. I was in England for four years. In 1632, England and France agreed on the Treaty of St. Germaine-en Laye. This treaty said that Canada together with Acadia and Cape Breton, would be restored to France. I wrote another book about the Canada that I loved. It contained the best of my maps. It showed maps from Newfoundland to Lake Superior and north past Hudson Bay. It was called The Voyages in Western New France called Canada, written by the Sieur de Champlain during the years 1603 to 1629 and Treatise on Seamanship and the Duty of a Good Seaman.
